The University of New South Wales (UNSW) is a large public comprehensive university established in 1949, located in Randwick, the Sydney metropolitan area of New South Wales, Australia, approximately 5 kilometers from the city center of Sydney. The University of New South Wales is a five-star university.

At the beginning of its establishment, the University of New South Wales was called the "New South Wales University of Technology", with a focus on STEM education. In 1958, it was renamed as the University of New South Wales. In the 1960s, it established a School of Medicine and a School of Literature, and in 1971, it established a School of Law. With over 50000 students, it is one of the largest comprehensive universities in Australia.
